MASTERING

Mastering is the final step in audio production. In this phase, the overall volume is raised and the final dynamic and tonal tweaks are made to ensure consistency between the individual songs in the project as well as between different speaker systems.

Mastering is also about preparing the recording for the final medium. I offer mastering for multiple mediums such as streaming, CD's and vinyls at no extra cost . I also offer a free mix check and a free test master. On the Info/downloads page you can find an extensive guide covering how to best prepare your mix before sending it off to mastering.
Don't hesitate to
contact me if you have a mix that needs the final touch and another set of ears before it is released to the world.

Free test master

Like with mixing, mastering is a very creative process and every mastering engineer has their own unique sound and approach, so in order for us to know if we're a "match", I'll do a free test master of a portion of one of your songs before we commit to each other. If you like the direction I've taken, we close the deal and work together on the project. If you do not like it, you keep all your money and find another engineer who matches your style better.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the type and scale of the project. Tell me about your project and I'll give you a personally tailored quote.

What mediums do you master for?

I always master for streaming. I do CD and vinyl masters as well if requested.

What do we receive afterwards?

Wav-files in 44.1 Hz / 16 bit unless otherwise requested. For CD/vinyl mastering you'll get a DDP/cue sheet along with wav-files.

Does our music really need mastering?

Yes. Mastering ensures consistency between the different tracks on the album and between different listening environments.

How long does it take before we receive the master?

I'll typically have the master ready within two weeks. Be sure to tell me about specific deadlines early on and I'll work around those.

How do we send the mix for your to master?

Check out the Info/downloads page where you can see guides on how to prepare the mix and send them to me.

We have more questions - where can we find the answers?
